You are the large water in an African tale. The whole house is yours. See us: Moon and Sun The mother and father. We set to work, we build, we saw. In the sound of the hammer, the sound of nails—we nail we hammer, we measure and measure. We open the door. You are the water, the whole house yours. You take all day from the front door to the back. At night you take something in each hand. Some days you take everything. See us: Moon. Sun. The mother and father. One in each hand. We must move above you. Oh, water, our wet, wet love—our danger. We are light: Moon and Sun. Already so far from you, somewhere above the dark eaves. |
