MFA Applicants

Perspective students interested in applying for the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program usually apply to the program in the fall semester for the following academic year. Applications should be complete no later than February 1, especially for students interested in consideration for assistantships.  All students who apply by February 1 are considered for assistantships in our program; there is no special process to apply for an assistantship. We usually admit about 10 students per year for our MFA program. We rarely admit students for the spring semester; almost all of our students begin their program in the fall.

Undergraduate Applicants

Perspective students interested in applying to Georgia College & State University can get complete information from the university’s Admissions office.  As Georgia’s Public Liberal Arts University, GCSU has become increasingly competitive, so students should consider applying as early as possible.  You may declare a major in English with a Creative Writing Concentration when you register for classes, although like all new students you will begin by taking classes in the university’s Core Curriculum.  You will be able to take ENGL 2208, Introduction to Creative Writing, in the second semester of your first year or first semester of your sophomore year.
