Jamie Addy – Editor-in-Chief

Junior – English/Creative Writing

I like kitties and tofu, not necessarily at the same time.  Climbing trees is fun.  Harry Potter is my boyfriend, pretty much.  I'm awkward always.  I look at my hands a lot...they're small.  If you really want to get to know me, let me make you a mixtape – they speak volumes.

Jesslyn Jenkens – Poetry Editor

Senior – English/Creative Writing

I could lose myself in a book and never return.  I am amazed by old photographs and human existence.  I love to be alone and yet surrounded by friends.  I could live off of cheese and wine.

“Believe in those that seek the truth.

Doubt those that find it.”

—Anonymous

Eric Jones – Prose Editor

Junior – English/Creative Writing

“blurb blurb blurbity blurb blurb

Amira Abdulhafid – Prose Editor

Senior – Spanish, Creative Writing minor

“I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.

I learn by going where I have to go.”

—Theodore Roethke

Kristy Rutland – Prose Editor

Junior – English/Creative Writing

I want to live on the coast so that every once in a while, everything will be washed away.  Periodically, I will be absolved.

Joshua Lavender – Webmaster

Junior – English/Literature

Yeah, here I am, lying down as usual.  In case you were wondering, the website is so shoddy because I’m lazy as hell.  Contrary to appearance, I’m not an upstanding, conservative white guy (okay, so I’m white).  Rather, I’m a folkie, a music festival devotee, and an old soul.  (I’m also, ironically, a technophobe.)

Dr. Karen McElmurray – Advisor

Assistant Professor of English

Our wonderful advisor, caught in a rather serious mood (she’s not always like this).  Some curriculum vitae notes: Karen’s first novel, Strange Birds in the Tree of Heaven, was reprinted in paperback by University of Georgia Press in 2004.  Most recently, she has published a memoir, Surrendered Child: A Birth Mother’s Journey, which was a National Book Critics Circle Notable Book and was selected as winner of the Georgia Author of the Year Award for memoir.  She was formerly a Writer-in-Residence at Berry College, and we’re very grateful to have her now at GC&SU.

Christina Matthews – Assistant Advisor

Graduate Student – MFA in Poetry

Christina Matthews graduated with a B.A. in Creative Writing from Oswego State University in New York. She is currently working on her MFA in Poetry here at GC&SU. Christina dreams of washing the feet of Anne Carson and Annie Dillard, and if they asked her to, she would also tuck them in at night.
