Arts & Letters is published annually each spring, usually mailing in March or April. Your one-year subscription will also include access to our epublication, Arts & Letters PRIME.

Online Submissions

Why the fee?
Online submissions are quick, easy, and efficient. For the convenience of online submission we charge a nominal fee (about the cost of submitting by post), part of which goes to support the online platform and part of which directly supports the journal’s editorial and production costs (including honoraria to contributors).

Online Submission Guidelines:

  • Send only one submission per genre at any one time. E.g., submitting a short story and a one-act play at the same time is fine, but please wait to hear from us before submitting another story.
  • Upload your work as one document. We accept doc, docx, txt, and rtf files.
  • Have the final version of your work saved and ready to submit at the time you create your account. Although you may withdraw your submission at any time, the fee is nonrefundable.
  • First set up your account (contact info, username/passowrd), then set up your payment information, then upload your submission (in one single file).
  • Average notification time for acceptance is 4-6 weeks.
  • Simultaneous submissions are fine; just please let us know right away if your work is accepted elsewhere.

Go to the Online Submissions Manager.

Print Submissions

On the front of your envelope, please note the genre of your submission. Please send only one submission per genre at any one time. E.g., submitting a short story and a one-act play at the same time is fine, but please wait to hear from us before submitting another story. Also, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) for editorial response. If you would like your work returned, please make this very clear in your cover letter and provide a large enough SASE with sufficient postage. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable as long as the editors are notified immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Please send all manuscripts to:
