Why
Arts & Letters?
For six years now, writers participating in our workshops have enjoyed working with teachers who are both talented and accessible. We keep our workshops small (no more than 12 students, and fewer) in order to create a community of writers, a place where both students and faculty interact. Teachers meet one-on-one with their students, attend student readings, and often just sit down over a cup of coffee to talk about writing and the writing life. While we can’t offer any guarantees, several of our students have later published their work in Arts & Letters, as well as other prominent literary journals, and some are now publishing their first books. What we can guarantee: We will take you and your work seriously here, and treat you with respect and collegiality. New
Tuition Fees and Fellowships We’ve significantly reduced our tuition fee (now only $450 for the week), recognizing that budgets for travel and workshops are tight for everyone. To help even further, we’ve created “Editor’s Fellowships” of $100, further reducing tuition to $350 for those participants recognized with fellowships. Housing at GC&SU costs only $120 for the week The
Workshops:
We offer workshops in poetry, fiction (for both short
story writers and novelists), and creative nonfiction & memoir. In addition to their regular class
